Two-day workshop Aimed at Strengthening Engagement with Society
The Bhikkhunis in Sri Lanka recently held a two-day workshop aimed at strengthening their engagement with society. The purpose of this gathering is to delve into the pursuit of collective happiness (Bahujana Hitaya). This objective holds profound significance, prompting us to introspect on the efficacy of our service to the community. Recognizing the challenges faced by contemporary society, they are now eager to adopt a more people-oriented approach. As part of this initiative, the Bhikkhunis expressed a desire to continue their dialogue with leaders of other religions. This dialogue proved invaluable in broadening their understanding of other faiths and how they contribute to social betterment.
In Sri Lanka, a multi-religious and multi-national state, it is imperative that our attitudes evolve. We must foster more collaborative efforts to address the emerging needs of our society. As religious leaders, it is incumbent upon us to learn from one another and support each other in our shared goal of making the world a better place.
