International Day for The Elimination of Violence against Women
Pope Francis, on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, tells us that"We must all do much more for the dignity of every woman" because "Too often women are offended, abused, raped, or induced into prostitution"...If we want a better world, which is one of peace and not a waryard, we must all do much more for the dignity of every woman"
This is a task that involves us as partners in the mission of the Congregation of Our Lady of Charity of the Good Shepherd called to respect the dignity of and empower women and girls.
At present, when we hear "gender violence" we think about the existence of the problem and the urgency of finding wise solutions that respect the dignity of each person and their human rights. Gender-based violence was once and still in some cultures is seen as a a family issue that should not be spoken of. Many felt that they could not intervene in situations of domestic violence as it ‘was not their place.’ , Today, fighting against this scourge is part of the redemptive mission of the Church as mentioned by Pope Francis and our founders Saint John Eudes and Saint Mary Euphrasia.
