The Congregation of Good Shepherd Sri Lanka together with Dharma Shakthi Foundation
The Congregation of Good Shepherd Sri Lanka together with Dharma Shakthi Foundation (An Inter-Faith Dialogue Group), strongly condemn the Unrest and Attack on a Christian Colony, in Jaranwala, Faisalabad District, Pakistan on the 16th of August 2023. We wish to show our solidarity at this time of fear and uncertainty that these innocent Christian civilians undergo.
Human life is important to all and life needs to be safeguarded. People can have different opinions regarding religions, but all are recommended to respect and build interfaith harmony. This harmony could be disturbed for various reasons. People need to be careful in preserving religious harmony. It is the responsibility of the government to avert religious intolerance. It is with regret that we condemn the violence that happened in Jaranwala, Faisalabad. This situation threatens the lives of many, and physical resources are damaged. This is a threat to minority groups, and their freedom is impinged.
